My husband and I love to travel. Now that we have a young son, we want to take him along for the ride – but purchasing 3 flight tickets at a time can be very cost prohibitive. I’m not completely new to the points and miles game, but I didn’t know how to get those large point balances that really make traveling as a family on a budget feasible. Imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon the “Points for Normal People” podcast. Katie’s episodes are on point, easy to understand, and she leaves excellent resources in the show notes for each episode. One example of something I recently learned is a benefit that will really help us out in a few weeks on Katie’s Capital One Venture X episode (Season 2 Episode 7): Katie explained how we can use miles earned on the card once the minimum spend is hit to reimburse yourself via statement credits for travel costs. We are visiting Disney World this summer so I (after talking it over with my spouse) used Katie’s affiliate link to apply for the Venture X card. Katie explains that one benefit of the card is that you can use your miles to cover travel expenses that you incurred on the card. The travel expenses have to be coded to “travel,” so buying Disney tickets on Undercover Tourst.com will give them this distinction. Check out this episode if you interested! Travel (including Disney) is SO expensive these days and it’s great that people like Katie offer resources to save some money and show you how to gain value from travel credit cards. Keep up the amazing work Katie!
